FASHION BLOGS I READ,LOVE AND RECOMMEND
Darlings it’s Sunday and by the time Sunday rolls around it’s usually time to relax . However not this Sunday , today i’m busy writing this post . Since I come to fashion blogging from a different perspective than most I find inspiration in what I call my gals. While the rest of my fellow fashion bloggers are busy getting dressed and shopping ,I’m busy reading, researching and reading some more. Since I’m not a photographer and not a girl it really wouldn’t suit me well to dress up and photograph myself.
Therefore the value of my blog is I know my stuff. I studied theater design at university and spent many years as a costume designer.Actually I wasn’t the best at construction but I am the best at fitting, and pattern making . I have spent years studying fashion history and also have avid love of film and costume design in film. Therefore those of you who read my blog regularly will be familiar with my references to film , fashion history and some clothing construction terms. Since I started “Dress The Part” , it has taken me some time to find my voice , and I hope that I am still developing.
In addition to spending my time researching my posts I also spend a lot of reading other blogs . In fact I read blog posts most of the morning and write comments on a lot of my favorites daily . Hence I thought it would be interesting for me to write a post sharing my favorite blogs with my readers. Therefore that brings me back to being before this computer on a Sunday and contemplating how I will go about writing this post.
FASHION BLOGS ; MY FAVORITES
When thinking who I would include in my list of favorite fashion bloggers it did not take long to start off with one of the best Aimee Song. Aimee started her blog Song Of Style in 2008 when studying interior design. Since then she has partnered with many A-List brands and has become huge on both You Tube and Instagram. What I love most about Aimee’s style is she has the eye to mix high-end fashion with the low priced . Therefore it’s not uncommon to see her wear a St.Laurent top with a skirt from H&M . Second what I like about this blog is it reads easy and has great photo’s .
I love Susanna Lau, also known as Susie Bubble. She is a great writer and editor living and working in London. Lau started her fashion blog ‘Style Bubble’ in March 2006. Hence Style Bubble consists of her widely read thoughts, personal experiences and observations on fashion with a focus on spotlighting young and unknown talent. I have followed this blog for a while now and have learned so much . Susie’s recent post on the Dior retrospective Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams at the Museé Arts Décoratifs was extraordinary. Therefore I can’t say enough good things about Style Bubble.
STYLE ME GRASIE
First and foremost I love a fashion blog that makes me feel like the blogger is my friend, and that’s why I love Style Me Grasie. Read this engaging blog and just try not to get the infectious joy of the writer Grasie Mercedes . This lovely young actress and writer has a sharp fresh look that keeps me always going back for more.
ATLANTIC PACIFIC
This very special fashion blog , is one that I adore. Arguably this blog fills my desire for beautiful feminine dressing. However it’s much more than that, can a photo be witty? In my opinion it can and Blair Eadie is proof . Since discovering this blog I have commented most days on her lovely classic clothes and her sometimes quirky take on fashion. The always sunglass-bespectacled Blair flirts with the landscape of New York and other world sites. As a costume designer I am awed by the beauty of the styled looks of this blogger !
DISNEROLLERGIRL
What’s up ? Another great blog that helps to answer this question . Disneyrollergirl is a fabulous blog by London-based fashion editor, Navaz Batliwalla. Batiwalla has her ear on the pulse of the London fashion scene which really means the international fashion scene. Insights on new brands in both fashion and beauty , and info on what’s happening and what’s coming down the runway. Navaz Batliwalla is a writer, content creator and creative consultant that has a wonderful blog.
FASHION BLOGS I READ,LOVE AND RECOMMEND IN CONCLUSION
Darlings I have given you the first taste of the great fashion blogs that exist. Therefore I will again share more of the blogs that I read and love. I hope you are all as inspired by these blogs as much as I am.
