Celine Haddad presented her collction at VFW on Tuesday 8th October. Certainly, between the shows there is a mosh pit like environment at Vancouver Fashion Week. The crowd mingles taking pictures, networking and meeting the models and designers. In fact, this is my opportunity to meet and do brief interviews with the designers.

MY BRIEF INTERVIEW
WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION FOR THIS COLLECTION?
“Well, I was on the train and I over heard a group of young people talking about Billie Eilish (singer, performer). They were saying how weird she was and how their parents and grandparents couldn’t understand her music or her looks. I am familiar with Billie Eilish , and I thought how would my grandparents react. In fact, I then started sketching and forming my idea’s about non-conformity.”
WHAT MESSAGE CAN WE TAKE FROM THIS COLLECTION ?
“I named this collection Rebellion because I want to put across the breaking of societal norms and traditions. I call my models my Rebels. My collection is meant to be experimental, controversial and provocative. My real message is that rebels can do whatever we want. These rebels break the rules. I like to break the fashion rules.”
WHO IS FOR CUSTOMER OF CELINE HADDAD ?
“I cater to women of any age who want luxury garments. My label offers urban women daring, dynamic and distinct garments and accessories that will make them feel edgy, confident and comfortable in their skin. Moreover, these are garments that women can wear for various occasions.”
CELINE HADDAD ON THE RUNWAY
Rebellion on the runway was slightly safer than the name suggested. However, Celine Haddad certainly did not disappoint. This collection is strong and bold. The color palette features a mauve/lilac, partnered with black and neutrals. A sophisticated earth-toned plaid fulfills it’s part in an elegant color story.
The fabrics were a juxtaposition of soft and structured, sheers and light silks were paired with suiting fabrics. Fitted blazers, silky blouses, skirts, shorts, trousers and a sheer dress made a collection where so many elements could be mixed and matched.
The Rebellion came in the use of black leather accessories that were put with most garments. Gloves, belts, crossbody bags give a structured unconventional look. A suit in the earth-toned plaid is coupled with a wide belt and holster like cross strap, reminiscent of an army uniform. The same plaid in trousers are shown with an ivory bra top, and black leather peplum , giving one of the most rebellious looks.
