Wether you can or can’t remember the 1970’s is not relevant here, minimalist 70’s look is all the rage. The runways for spring /summer 2015 had all the major fashion houses showing 70’s influenced looks. From contemporary designers to timeless fashion houses like Gucci, Prada, Valentino, and Saint Laurent the 70s are it. Taking your cue from the runways and determining the elements you will need to be on trend with this seventies revival is not easy but I’m here to help. I’ve created a need to have shopping list to assist you.
Minimalist 70’s The Pants
The 70’s are all about the pants! Probably the first decade where pants could be worn for all situations. Therefore we have seen pants worn from the office to the Oscars. Firstly you will need the right pair of jeans, look for a high waisted Jean with flared legs. Faded and possibly embroidered, these can be found either new or vintage. Secondly furthering the pants idea you need a pair of wide leg evening pants or jumpsuit. Choose something in a neutral shade , that can be easily dressed up or down.
Nothing says 70’s Minimalist More Than The Bell Dress
Nothing says the 70sminimalist more than bell sleeves. An Aline dress with bell sleeves is a must for evenings out or to give variety to your work wardrobe. You could buy original vintage or another option is a new fabrication. The nice change from the actual 70s is your new dress will be fabricated from silk or cotton and not polyester. Furthermore the original may well have a pattern or print that appears dated.
70’s Minimalist Means the Perfect Accessories
Other must haves are accessories to bring your to look to fulfillment . One great add on is a suede bag and if you can find a fringed one you kill two birds with one stone.
Next get the right sunglasses remember the glasses worn by Jackie O, in the seventies, perfection! Remember my dears the devil is in the details .When taking inspiration from another decade it is just that inspiration. Recreation, is best left to the costume designers ,you don’t want to look like an extra from that 70’s show.
Ciao for now Jandrew
