PREVIEW DAY ONE
Wednesday, April 12th, is the opening night of Vancouver Fashion Week( VFW). I am busy preparing while spending Easter vacation with family. Part of my preparation is researching all the designers who will present their collections during the 5-day event. VFW has a preview of many of the designers on their website, make sure to check it out.
VFW is the 2nd largest fashion week in North America. Since its establishment, Vancouver Fashion Week is dedicated to cultivating the success of both established designers and award-winning emerging designers with its global perspective and highly multicultural approach. This 22nd year of VFW has some exciting fashion designers scheduled to show their work on the runway.
I have chosen a few designers to highlight in my previews, to give you a feel for what to expect and encourage your attendance.

LOVE TO UKRAINE
Opening VFW is the presentation of Vancouver stylist, designer, and model Tetyana Golota entitled Love To Ukraine. With the contributions of the local Ukrainian community, Tetyana styles an exciting runway production drawing attention to the war in her country of origin and celebrating the people and their culture. Music, dance, and fashion combine in this third edition of Love to Ukraine. While we are attending a fashion event, the interconnection of fashion and culture is inseparable. Moreover, this presentation draws on the horrors of war and its impact on all aspects of life. Equally important is the celebration of culture, love, humanity, resilience, and art. Do not miss this presentation.

SHELLEY KLASSEN
The 2nd designer I would like to preview here is SHELLEY KLASSEN. The first time I entered Shelley’s boutique in downtown Vancouver, I was taken back to a dress shop of yesterday. Rarely do you find a shop anymore that is almost exclusively dresses. This warm welcoming boutique is filled with dresses, day or office dresses, semi-formal dresses, and dresses suited to every occasion. This talented designer has created a brand that celebrates women. Feminine and beautiful Klassen’s dresses are special. I can’t wait to see what this designer sends down the runway.

NEITHAN HERBERT
This talented designer from Mexico (who was born in Ecuador) will bring to the runway his latest collection entitled “Granchio del mare in aqua” (Crab in the water). The collection is inspired by the designer’s zodiac sign, Cancer. Expressing his connection to the sea and his mother, he explores his relationship to the mother figure, nature, and the Ecuadorian and Mexican Cultures.
Designers with bold inspiration, and a story to tell, are often the most successful, especially on the runway. I have seen the past runway collections of Neithan Herbert and am excited to see what he presents.
