VELVET IS THE MOST LUXURIOUS TREND OF F/W 2017-18
Velvet is the most luxurious trend of the season. As a matter of fact the velvet underground has become the velvet runway. In fact we are all well aware that every fall and winter season certain fabrics are featured .However this year a certain fabric has reached meteoric heights. In the same way that white denim takes off every summer this winter velvet is everywhere. The sumptuous fabric once reserved for royalty is coming in to it's biggest revival .
I have always liked velvet and remember having a velvet blazer as a child . Since I relate to many events in my life by the clothes I wore I do recall the specifics of wearing this blazer. Many people remember events by the music that was popular at the time , my mind relates to the fashion. Does anyone else have these memories ? Let me know !
ALL ABOUT VELVET
Velvet is a type of woven tufted fabric in which the cut threads are evenly distributed with a short dense pile. Therefore it gives it a distinctive soft feel. By extension, the word velvety means "smooth like velvet." Velvet can be made from either synthetic or natural fibers.
Velvet the most luxurious fabric can be made from several different kinds of fibers. Of course traditionally, the most expensive of which is silk. Much of the velvet sold today as "silk velvet" is actually a mix of rayon and silk . Hence the fabric made entirely from silk is rare. Therefore it usually has market prices of several hundred US dollars per yard.Cotton is also used to make velvet, though this often results in a less luxurious fabric. Velvet can also be made from fibers such as linen, mohair, and wool.
Sensually soft and closely associated with royalty, velvet boasts an exclusive history. It's safe to say velvet has been around for a while. There is evidence that Egyptians made this fabric in 2000 BC. Therefore we can see velvet throughout history until today.
VELVET IS THE MOST LUXURIOUS TREND ON THE RUNWAY
Velvet is the most luxurious runaway trend for this fall. Next big news is velvet is in many different hues.We see marigold and brilliant yellows at Cedric Charlier and Jason Wu. While the new favorite Attico and Altuzarra offered chic primary red and blue options. Next not to be outdone, Dior offered midnight blue velvet with galaxy-themed embellishment. These bright bold velvet statements include Tibi showing an electric blue suit. While the paler hues of pink are seen at Cinq a Sept.

I have yet to dip my toe in this trend though I want to, I still associate velvet with middle aged goths. I think I may start with a blazer in a dark color which is kind of a classic so when the trend passes I can still use it.
