IS FEBRUARY THE MOST DEPRESSING MONTH?
Well my dears January is drawing quickly to a close, and February is just around the corner. February is often described as the most depressing month of the year. Most of the northern hemisphere is still in the throes of winter and spring seems like it will never arrive. Hence some say the best thing about February is that it is the shortest month of year. Chilly, damp, rainy or snowy February really draws the short stick. The holiday season is all but a blurry memory, except for the credit card statements and the extra five pounds around your mid section. While the new year resolutions you made seem, to hang around your neck like an albatross. The temptation to wallow in the despair of February seems very attractive. Whilst we could curl up in a ball and wait with baited breath for the arrival of March, I recommend a different approach.
The misery known as February does not exist. The state of mind we are enthralled with is just that a state of mind. The blues that could encompass us don't need to. I am a February baby which has always helped me make it through the month. I love birthdays, so many people bemoan birthdays as the horror of growing older. While I see birthdays as the celebration of life and the recognition of another year well lived. This type of attitude is one that we should adopt for the whole month.
FEBRUARY IS BLACK HISTORY MONTH
February is black history month, something worth celebrating and engaging in. Black history month is celebrated in Canada, Great Britain, the U.S.A. and Germany. Black history month is an opportunity to share history, contributions and culture of the black communities. So rather than having a down attitude for this month help celebrate and share with our black brothers and sisters.
The Fashion Institute of Technology, in New York, has curated an exhibit called BLACK FASHION DESIGNERS. This show runs through May 16, 2017. The exhibit showcases the work of black designers exclusively. The curators are quick to point out that a singular style of black fashion does not exist, but rather that this community of creators has long gone unrecognized in the larger history of design, despite playing a pivotal role in the fashion industries history. So if you happen to be in N.Y city take in this free exhibit, and celebrate our diversity.
FEBRUARY HAS PRESIDENTS DAY
Although I'm not an American the majority of my readers are. Therefore I feel it appropriate to name Presidents day as a holiday in February. Presidents Day is the popular and commonly used name for the U.S. federal holiday called Washington's Birthday.
Presidents Day honors and celebrates the life and achievements of George Washington, the first President of the United States. The day is in practice, often used to honor and remember all U.S. Presidents. This year it may well be another day of protest against the current President who shall remain unnamed by me. Hence this may be the perfect day to get out into the community and celebrate your fragile democracy.
When attending a President Day celebration or protest, one must consider what to wear. Comfort and warmth will come high on the list, but I always consider style to be the major factor. As frivolous as this sounds style often helps portray who you are, which is fully appropriate for a protest.

FEBRUARY HAS VALENTINES DAY
Finally February has St.Valentines day. I now address all the single ladies. The one day of the year set aside for love. So if this is depressing to you maybe you need to put yourself out there this year and find love. In the modern age, gone are the days of waiting for some guy to find you. While this may not be a romantic notion, you can be in the driver's seat, take control! Join an online dating site, ask your friends to set you up, be more approachable. Wear red all month. This an idea that really does work. Draw attention to yourself by wearing red, when asked by anyone say you are actively looking for love. People spend huge amounts of time and effort planning their career, their finances and their leisure time but very little time planning their love life.
So make a declaration to the universe ,"I want love ". Now that you've done that truly open your heart and mind to the idea. Now make a physical manifestation by wearing red, the color of passion, the color of love. This is the beginning of a great adventure for all 28 days of February you will wear red. So let's get started I've compiled some great red items available through my affiliates. You'll need to shop, plan and put together your looks for the month. Remember most of all this will be fun and by putting yourself out there who knows what will happen!
FEBRUARY MAY NOT BE SO BAD
While the jury may still be out, I feel I have made a good case on behave of February. I know I dealt with the single woman looking for love but what about that happy girl who's found it. February is a time to celebrate love in your life. To do something special for the one you love. Love can be expressed many ways one of the most common is to give a gift. Here are some gift ideas for the man in your life.
Celebrate February
Hence February is not so depressing after all. You may feel the need to celebrate my birthday on the 15th, if so, I'll accept good wishes. By Celebrating Black history month, we honor our black citizens and celebrate their great contributions to our societies. In the U.S.A. you may celebrate or maybe this year, protest, Presidents day. Finally we celebrate romantic love on St. Valentines day. In conclusion the often coldest bleakest month of the year has much to offer. I encourage you to remember it's all a state of mind.
