SPRING 2018; MIXED UP PRINTS

SPRING 2018 ; FASHION RULES

Spring 2018 brings about an entire new batch of trends. Whenever I think about trends my mind goes to fashion rules. Since years ago fashion rules seemed to govern more than the latest trends .First the number one rule was no white shoes after labor day. Moreover the this rule had few reprieves, maybe if you were a nurse you could get away with it. Oh nurse, and she’d come squeaking along in white shoes only a nurse would wear. Since we tossed out that rule, one of the biggest trends last year was white booties for fall and winter. I love white boots ,but that’s for a different post

Second it was not only white shoes but white period. In fact you never wore white at all between labor day and Easter. However we have thrown that rule out with the bath water. Of course we don’t need to look to far, winter white is one of the hottest looks going. As a matter of fact I love nothing more than a great white look in winter.

SPRING 2018: BREAK ALL THESE RULES.

Additionally there were lots of these rules. You shouldn’t wear white to someone else’s wedding,( if the bride is that insecure she probably isn’t ready to get married). By the same token don’t let your bra show. Despite the stray bra strap ,it would be a shame not to show the gorgeous bra’s of today . Of course only if it is intentional. Then this rule, don’t sparkle in the daytime. Sparkles are for always, use discretion funerals, interviews, and the courtroom may be reasonable exceptions. Likewise tall women should never wear heels, why so short men don’t get intimidated. Of course that’s a stupid reason, tall women look great in heels. Get the idea !

Similarily the rule that some still feel is true is DON’T MIX PRINTS AND PATTERNS. In this case you may be partially true .Therefore in the beginning leave it to the professionals. But by all means try this one out ,it not only can look great it is a huge trend for Spring 2018.

SPRING 2018; MIXED UP PRINTS AND PATTERNS

Spring 2018 showed us mixed up prints and patterns on the runway. Mixed up prints and patterns may sound a bit like a cop out. However honestly, this spring 2018 print trend showed up as a combination of springtime typical prints (mostly florals) and patterns like stripes . We saw some very good examples at Gucci, Marni, Mary Katrantzou, Dries Van Noten and Maison Margiela. This trend is pretty easy to follow: Use your creativity and judgement to put together different prints that are very different but somehow can go together. These pieces feel like they are not for people with limited imaginations at all.

SPRING 2018 LOVES MIXED UP PRINTS

In conclusion the mixed up prints that are big this year are not for everyone. Since many of you know my taste, some may be surprised by endorsement of this trend. However you might also know to me fashion  is not such a serious business. Notably I almost always love fun, youthful, and fresh fashion trends. While you may be more serious my greatest advice to everyone in fashion is to lighten up.

COCO CHANEL

” In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different “

Since being different is a goal unto it’s self, I surely support those who aspire to be irreplaceable. To summarize this trend of mixing up prints and patterns, look at the great designs here. Moreover shop for pieces that are already mixed patterns or get inspired and create your own looks. As long as what I show you is fashion forward and encourages originality, I’ve done my job.
