SPOTLIGHT ON GUCCI 

Putting a spotlight on Gucci, is really something I need not do. However, in this case I am putting a spotlight on Gucci as a dramatic force in fashion. In fact, Gucci is a super brand that really owns the market right now.  Gucci is an Italian luxury fashion brand founded by Guccio Gucci in Tuscany in 1921. The house has gone on to become Italy’s top selling label. Certainly, Gucci is enjoying a huge revival. In fact they have become the world’s most sought after millennial brand. Gucci’s latest take off is under the creative direction and fresh digital marketing strategy of Alessandro Michele. Certainly it has been an exponential rise, since he took over as creative director in 2015.

“It’s no exaggeration to say that as a designer Michele is among the most influential forces in fashion—if not the most influential force. He’s made maximalists of former minimalists and turned the world on to vintage of all eras, cacophonic color and print, logos, glitter, and gender fluidity most of all.”

Today, Gucci is worn by the “It” crowd all over the world, and regularly dresses celebrities such as Rihanna, Brad Pitt, Blake Lively, Rachel McAdams, Harry Styles, Kylie Jenner and Salma Hayak for red carpet events.

While, celebrities can afford to wear entire Gucci outfits, most of us mere mortals don’t have that budget. Certainly don’t be dissuaded if you can’t afford a Gucci dress, or if you can, celebrate with gratitude.

What I love about Gucci under Alessandro Michele, is his vintage styles, his maximalist designs, and his sense of drama. Since, like myself, Alessandro comes from a theatrical background he knows how to bring drama to clothing. Certainly, drama can be added to a wardrobe many ways , therefore lets look at some of those ways Gucci adds drama.

Whoever knows me, knows that I wear sunglasses most of the time. While, everyone thinks I wear them only to be dramatic they do also protect my eyes. THAT SIGNATURE PIECE

First, I rarely recommend that you dress head to toe in one specific designer. Furthermore, if you are a dramatic dresser and favor the extravagant it is often more fun to combine elements from various designers. Whenever, you are on the look to impress and standout, an outfit can be built around a signature piece. Moreover that signature or feature piece can be as central as a dress or coat or something dramatic like hat. Whether you construct that look around a Gucci tee or an  amazing dress , it is how you style it that counts. Darling’s to create an awesome wardrobe each outfit needs at least one signature piece. Furthermore that signature element, should be something you love to wear, brings drama and furthers your personal fashion story. I have been accused of being a drama queen, and I must plead the fifth. I have always had a flare for the dramatic and in fashion I love excess. Therefore, I’ve been drawn to Dolce & Gabbana, Alexander McQueen, John Galiano and of course Gucci. Whatever you want to call it maximalism or over the top, I prefer to call it abundance. When you live a life of abundance you  need to realize you will get what you want. Gucci in many ways is the ultimate luxury label , always giving us drama !
