SPRING 2018

Suddenly Spring 2018 is here. However these day’s just turning on the t.v. news or cracking open the newspaper could start you screaming.It seems that everything we hold dear is under attack. To put it another way there’s a war on equality, on feminism , on science , on facts and on sanity. Therefore a response has come loud and clear from the designers of the world avoid reality at all costs ! Hence from NYC to Paris and especially Milan the message is escape the real world . Moreover not just abandoning reality but embracing fantasy and pure unabashed joy !!

Consequently this led to a Spring 2018 that was full of optimism and high energy . In fact labels like Celine to Louis Vuitton to Sacai have come forward with collections expressing s exuberance. Micheal Kors speaking about his collection said ” I think the world is mixed up .We all crave the sense of optimism , and fashion can lift spirits “. This new found bliss does not seem to be relegated to the runways. Furthermore even French chic – that aloof minimalist cool-seems to be losing it’s grip . Significantly being replaced by a new more joyful Italian style . Particularly the influence of the Italian style of men on women’s wear. Moreover we see a new more carefree aesthetic , the blithe nonchalance of Italian man.

In fact the unguarded air and openness of the Italian style is in direct juxtaposition to the aloof French style. But for Italians to be aloof is not in their nature.I know this well my guy is Italian. Moreover they aren’t afraid of a touch of flamboyance. They pair their cropped suits with anything from worn tee’s to wildly printed shirts. Then they employ old standards, like pocket squares and handkerchiefs. They forgo socks and embrace color. Since Italian style is unique , you’ll see these men of immaculate taste wearing sock less Gucci loafers with a three piece suit . Furthermore in Rome you may see a young man bicycling the cobblestone streets in pale pink pants and a paisley shirt . Pastels mixed with navies and a bright array of gelato inspired accessories with a elegant Italian suit.

Darlings looking at this effervescent aesthetic, bursting with charm and joie de vivre it’s no surprise that women want to share this joy! . Therefore this new look has taken that Italian man’s style and adapted it for women.

Moreover this care for little things is something that the Italians are known for. “Sperzza-tura” which roughly translates to “effortless elegance”, and sums up the Italian sense of style.

So how does someone go about nailing this newly beloved aestetic. First is an Italian cropped suit and second a pair of amazing sunglasses . Moreover I’d throw a few more details into the mix.

Especially pastels , as seen at Nina Ricci . Thus giving us that carefree sense of Spring and Summer.

Since we’re looking for that Italian style, relaxed but never sloppy tailoring. In this case a certain Giorgio Armani does it so well.

So what are you waiting for? Channel the carefree aplomb of these dandy gentlemen. Set aside those tres chic minimalist separates and embrace cheery hues instead. To summarize put on a slouchy cropped suit , with wingtip brogues and always a killer pair of sunglasses.

Darlings we’ve heard how the impact of the Italian man’s suit has changed fashion for Spring 2018. Since women have been wearing suits and trousers there has always been a male influence . Therefore what’s different here is designers are identifying this influence and giving it a deliberate impact.

While there are 3 types of suits . the British , the American and the Italian , we are looking at the Italian. Therefore the one main feature of an Italian suit is lightness. In fact this garment looks light, feels light and wears light. At the same time it is short and fits tight and close to the body. Specifically the jacket is considerably less structured compared to the British one. For this reason the cloth follows the natural curves. In addition the shoulders are lightly padded, and the overall padding is significantly reduced.

Notably the front of the jacket shows a pronounced V-shape , tight at the waist. Therefore this attractive feature is what makes this specific cut a great success with women.

In conclusion the jacket is usually single breasted. With this in mind the sleek silhouette set by the jacket is a constant also in the pants. Thus giving a smooth look from head to toe .

Well ladies I have presented you with the best suits of the season. Since the last post on suits I wrote was on power suits this one was has a different take. While the power suit is a strong work piece here we are looking at more playful ,semi -casual and colorful looks . In fact all the great suits I have chosen are inspired by the men’s suits of Italy . When choosing suits for Spring and Summer color, fit and fabric are the main considerations. Therefore what I’ve chosen here take all those elements into high regard.
