PROM DRESSES

Prom dresses are something many have a time hard choosing.  Since I’ve never been a Prom Queen I probably shouldn’t be writing this advice . On the other hand, I have been to a prom and I have been a Queen so I’m as qualified as anyone. However since I attended a prom things have certainly changed a lot. While I remember prom, it wasn’t a real big thing for a gay teen . In fact what I do remember most were the dresses, all the girls wore almost the same dress . Particularly noticeable were the pastel colors and the lack of style . Hence even the prom dresses weren’t much fun . There was nothing fun and flirty like a Self Portrait mini or the great looks from Alice + Olivia. In fact today there are so many options, florals from Erdem or a real evening look from Marchesa . Therefore it’s really not surprising I didn’t really enjoy it.

Meanwhile what really surprises me is if I was to google  “prom dresses” I would still see a lot of the same looks.  If you’re  reading this blog I’m assuming that you have  fashion sense. Therefore whether you are attending the prom or buying the dress ,maybe it’s time for the prom dress to change.

While prom is about a change and moving forward it is also about fun and freedom. Since this is one of the last times you maybe together with all your school friends you should cut loose. Therefore you need to find a dress that expresses your personality and your own style.  Similarly I recall all these girls or young women looking far beyond their years , dress for your age and don’t be afraid to be a bit outrageous !

PROM DRESSES – dress the part 

First I don’t really know that you are at all interested in prom dresses . Second  none of these dresses are going to look like traditional prom dresses. Third these dresses are all intended to be worn again. Since not every girl is on the same budget , I have been careful to select dresses from from to low .

PROM DRESSES – LACE

Lace is a timeless fabric. Since this is for prom and beyond it can be flirty and  girlie . On the other hand it can also sophisticated and sexy.

PROM DRESSES – FLORAL

All of a sudden this season florals were back in a huge way . When choosing a prom dress remember , we want to be on trend and fashionable . Therefore why not select bold  and colorful florals or muted flowers as seen on runways this season.

PROM DRESSES – BRIGHT COLORS

When searching for a prom dress that is sure to turn heads, look to the brightest colors. Certainly there are those of us who love  to  stand out. In addition bold bright crayola colors are really hot this season.

PROM DRESSES – RUFFLES

When I think of what stands out for this season it’s ruffles . While we did see this trend on the runway last year it’ now official ruffles are huge . In fact in some cases the ruffles themselves  are huge and a great look for prom night.  Furthermore if you are the romantic type ruffles might blow your skirt up!

PROM DRESSES – IF MONEY WAS NO OBJECT

 – THE SKY’S THE LIMIT DRESSES -TO SCREAM ABOUT

Darling’s we can “scream ” can’t we . In reality my dears the sky is not the limit for most of us . However where do you get your inspiration from the best, the most outrageous , the most beautiful . Certainly the  most creative one’s among-st you may scour the vintage shops, visit the consignment stores or be inspired to create something. Therefore daring’s be inspired , be outrageous and find dresses to  SCREAM ABOUT !
