CFDA AWARDS
The CFDA awards were held Monday night in Brooklyn N.Y. at the Brooklyn Museum . While my regular followers all know and for those who don’t, I love red carpets. The Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards, is otherwise known as the biggest celebration of designers and their accomplishments . Thus I can’t wait to see who wins. Many awards are given out this evening. However the one I’m always watching for is the Swarovski Award for emerging talents.
Therefore it’s not surprising that this event draws quite the crowd . Kim Kardashian West, Naomi Campbell, and Donatella Versace will be present as each woman is being honored . Moreover what’s a red carpet without Hollywood celebrities . Hence the stars appear including Lupita Nyong’o, Cate Blanchett, and more.
So my expectations for the red carpet looks are always set high and this event never disappoints. Therefore darlings ,my favorite looks of the evening are shown below.

CFDA AWARDS HONORS SANDERS LAK -SIES MARJAN
Sander Lak is the creative director of Sies Marjan. The label takes its name from his father and mother’s given names, respectively.Sander was born in Brunei and raised in his native Holland. He was educated at ArtEZ in Arnhem, the Netherlands and Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London, United Kingdom, where he graduated with a Masters Degree in 2008. His design experience includes time spent in the ateliers of prestigious design houses in New York, Antwerp, and Paris.Sander lives and works in New York City, USA.
He presented the debut womenswear collection for Sies Marjan during New York Fashion Week, Fall Winter 2016.
Whenever I look at these emerging talent winners I get excited , for what the future holds. Since his debut everyone is amazed by this young man’s punchy use of unusual colors. To begin with that first strut on the runway shown with canary-yellow, gelato inspired pinks and apricots. Hence Spring of 2017 was a cross between persimmons and tangerines , note both are bold and passionate fruits. However the best is the minty and teal, often orange of his Spring 2018 Collection. Notably these colors are odd , like a 1960’s bridesmaids revisited.
Moreover man cannot live on color alone and in the case of Sies Marjan you need not worry . A fascination with simplicity, line and small details puts this brand in great place to be successful. Therefore my darlings I’ve decided to center this post on the outstanding fashion of Sander Lak for Sies Marjan.
CFDA AWARDS – SIES MARJAN S/S 2018
Although these awards are given for the collections of 2017 , I am focused on S/S 2018. First and foremost this is only Lak’s fourth collection and it speaks to his talent that it is so cohesive. At the same point his colors are not the only thing that unifies this collection . Above all else I love the use of ombre’, the crinkled fabrics, crinkled shiny vinyl and the shimmery satins.
Therefore I am showing some shots from S/S 2018. Furthermore I have selected some great pieces from this collection for you to enjoy and shop here .
Sies Marjan Bessie Trench Coat
From Sies Marjan’s Spring/Summer 2018 collection. In fact the Bessie trench coat is a great look that I personally adore. Of course this coat is very on trend being crafted from a lightweight, crinkled vinyl fabric with a shiny finish. Further more dears this lilac color is the hottest this S/S 2018.
Sies Marjan Coralie Striped Cotton Sweater
Incorporate Sies Marjan’s contemporary aesthetic into your pullover rotation. Here this striped sweater shows the juxtaposition of a mint green and rusty orange . Actually this whole look is a perfect addition to your work wardrobe.
Sies Marjan Silk Elodie Dress
Here is this beautiful blue and burgundy silk elodie Dress from SIES MARJAN. In the middle of this dress are these fabulous pin tuck pleats , they are a featured detail in this collection. Additionally I love this unique hemline.
SIES MARJAN Vicki Twisted-Detail Crepe Dress
Sies Marjan Gracen Silk Chiffon Dress
Sies Marjan Women’s Sander Iridescent Crinkled Silk-Blend Shirt
Sies Marjan Terry Belted Blazer
Sies Marjan Noemi Satin Dress
Sies Marjan Mickey Silk Satin And Crêpe Dress
When introduced on the runway at New York Fashion Week, the Mickey dress was an immediate hit. In fact Sies Marjan’s penchant for colour-blocking and juxtaposing fabrics is one of the signatures of designer Sander Lak .

Sies Marjan Women’s Gracen Tie-Dyed Chiffon Dress
Sies Marjan Women’s Loretta Silk Chiffon Harness Blouse

CFDA AWARDS 2018
Whenever I think of the CFDA Awards I’m always looking for the Emerging Talent Award winner. Since you’ve already seen above the CFDA Awards winners ,many are well known forces in the fashion world. However part of the focus of the CFDA Awards is to nurture and mentor new talent . Therefore I like to honor emerging talent.
Since Sander Lak won this years award, I centered my attention on him and his 2018 S/S collection . While I have seen some pieces from Sies Marjan I was not very familiar with the label. Surprisingly I am blown away by this new brand . In fact the creativity, the originality and the wear ability are all so strong . Moreover this is only Sander Lak’s fourth show . The color stole the show. Furthermore I am awed after looking at the entire collection I don’t recall individual pieces, so much as a feeling of being immersed in Lak’s palette.
In conclusion I hope you see pieces that you love here . Moreover a huge amount of these items are on sale . Therefore remember that the sale items won’t last long .
Ciao for now Jandrew
