Have you heard of Molly Goddard ? Darlings it’s Friday and I’ve been busily catching up on all the latest fashion news. In general I like to go on line and search my mags ,read blogs and sites to learn whats up . Since I always like to keep up on the most recent trends and fads , new designers, new collections. When Spring arrives I always watch for the British Fashion Council Awards . The BFC/British Vogue Designer Fashion Fund prize was awarded May 2nd to designer Molly Goddard.

The award, in its eighth year, is designed to give winners the support needed to further develop their brands. Furthermore it come with a big pot of cash ( 200,000 pounds). Not to mention a year-long industry mentor-ship. Goddard beat out five other finalists.

MEET MOLLY GODDARD

I wasn’t automatically going to write about the BFC Awards but a personal favorite won. Therefore I’ve put together a great post on up and comer Molly Goddard.

Rihanna can be given some credit for the rise of Goddard. The super star first donned one of Molly’s tulle show stoppers in May 2016. Furthermore a huge media frenzy always follows Rihanna . The press made the lime green, sleeved tutu style dress an instant sensation. This dress became synonymous with Goddards self named label. Rihanna left no doubt after stepping out in a purple strapless number, of Goddard’s status as couturier to the stars.

Goddard’s major merchant is Dover Street Market. Furthermore this store sells only the coolest, most fashion-forward designers London has to offer.

Molly Goddard was no over night success . Before Rihanna , Goddard payed her dues. She studied knitwear at Central Saint Martins. Molly Goddard embarked upon her label of girlie dresses in 2014. It didn’t take long before her pretty light hued visions became the cool girls Cinderella moment. Moreover the British fashion scene took notice of her talent. Furthermore Ms.Goddard took home the British Emerging Talent award at the 2016 Fashion Awards. She also became a LVMH Prize finalist in 2017.

While we all have our opinions on fashion , I was surprised when I read that someone that I admired didn’t like this collection. In my opinion I loved the collection . There is a self-assured, womanly air to Molly Goddard’s collection.

The clothes feel more substantial than in past collections. Goddard’s waïf, child-like silhouettes are still here. But this time rendered in heavy cotton, too, alongside her signature tulle. One bulbous number has an Empire line while another was fashioned with a smocked, cinched-in waist and a floor-skimming skirt. Moreover there is a presence of fun and childish delight to the clothes.

The designer also plays with some toned-down shapes. There are draped dresses with gathered sleeveless in pinstripe cotton, and structured blazers in shiny, jewel-toned satin. Furthermore I love fun unexpected fashion , something that shows true creativity. I am moved by the talents of others who create beauty and that’s why I admire the designs of Molly Goddard. Therefore enjoy and shop this collection.
